Change is in the air…

Change is in the air...

Finalnd is waiting for the result of Lex Nokia final vote in the Parliament. Voting is today at 15.00 local time.

Pro argument: the new law will protect commercial secrets and prevent misuse of corporate networks, which have become a great deal of a problem now. Contra argument: the possibility of employees to contact officials, professional unions, lawyers, doctors etc. via e-mail without employers’ intervention are at risk. Besides, employers and first of all Nokia are getting something that even the police did not have (without a court order) – access to private infromation of individuals. It’s further public disclosure cannot be excluded, either.

People’s feedback on Lex Nokia is for the most part negative. Under an article in Helsingin Sanomat, commenters are asking why the case wasn’t put on a nationwide vote. Also, many are puzzled with the fact that the President and the Speaker of Parliament have not publicly expressed their attitude to the possible res judicata.
